Citizens have gathered around the country to remember two years since the Hamas-initiated offensive on October 7th, 2023, as talks continued in the neighboring country over a conclusion to the conflict in the Gaza Strip.

The attack resulted in in excess of 1,200 people losing their lives and 251 others taken back to Gaza as hostages. It was the most deadliest day for the Jewish community since the World War II.

Israel responded by initiating a military offensive in Gaza which has claimed more than 67,000 people, as reported by the area's Hamas-administered health ministry. Its statistics are considered reliable by the UN and other world agencies.

"The violent enemies have hit us hard, but they have not defeated us," the prime minister stated on Tuesday.

He also promised to "achieve all the goals of the war: the homecoming of all the captured, the removal of the Hamas administration and the assurance that Gaza will no longer create a danger to Israel".

Memorial Ceremonies Across Israel

The Israeli government postponed official commemorations until October 16th - after the end of the Jewish High Holiday season - but ceremonies still took place around the country on that day.

A remembrance service for the loved ones of people killed in the Hamas incident was held in the coastal city. Arranged by the affected families, it was televised throughout Israeli broadcast stations.

Hours earlier, a moment of silence was held around the country.

Ceasefire Meetings in Egypt

Simultaneously, Israeli and Hamas negotiating teams met in the North African coastal city of Sharm el-Sheikh for a continuing round of indirect talks to examine the terms of the proposal.

A prominent representative involved in the negotiations indicated that an night meeting of indirect talks commenced at 19:00 Cairo time.

The official explained the morning session concluded without concrete outcomes, because of differences over the suggested Israeli pullout plans from Gaza and over assurances Hamas demands to ensure Israel does not resume hostilities after the first phase of the deal.

He added that the negotiations are "tough and have not yet achieve any major advancement," but pointed out that intermediaries are striving to narrow the gaps between the two sides.

Essential Issues in Negotiations

  • A lasting ceasefire
  • The trade of the hostages still held by Hamas for inmates from Gaza
  • The removal of military personnel from Gaza
  • Measures for humanitarian aid distribution
  • Post-war administration of the region

Public Feeling

In Tel Aviv's Hostages Square previously, 29-year-old Hagar - whose sibling lived through the attack on the outdoor event, where hundreds were lost their lives and dozens more were captured by Hamas gunmen - told: "Nowhere seems like home now and until every captive are released not a single person will feel safe."

"After we see everyone home returned, we can feel relief once more. Then we can begin to rebuild," she added.

Near the prime minister's official dwelling in Jerusalem, people assembled to show their backing for the relatives of the abducted. Israel reports nearly fifty stay in captivity in Gaza, approximately twenty of whom are thought to be alive.

Demonstrator Atalia Regev explained: "It's necessary do every compromise necessary for the hostages to return. But we truly desire promises that we will be safe."

Research now frequently demonstrate that around 70% of Israelis want the war to end in as payment for the liberation of the captives.

Gaza Conditions

At the site of Nova festival, those paying respects gathered to pay their respects.

From that location, the boom of military attacks and shelling could be detected just a brief space away in Gaza, where observers said the intense Israeli bombardment carried on.

In the main city, attacks were reported in the early hours of Tuesday in the western district, Rimal and locality areas and in the eastern neighbourhood of Sheikh Radwan, as well the settlement to the northwest.

"When the evening arrives, the fear comes with it," relocated urban resident a mother, whose 17-year-old son was lost his life by an Israeli bombing earlier, described.

"Me and my three children are afraid of the bombings. Throughout the evening we are sleeping together, holding each other, notably my youngest child who places his head on me all night."

"Every second we check the news to see the situation. And I'm concerned that this truce will not be achieved and that the fighting will come back to us."

Health Emergency

The medical facility in Gaza City said it had received the remains of several people by the afternoon, including three who died in an Israeli bombing in the southern al-Sabra neighbourhood.

Nasser hospital in the southern urban center of the city indicated two more dead people had been delivered. An individual was killed by Israeli soldiers while attempting to get assistance to the south region, medical staff stated.

The region's health ministry announced 25 of the {territ
