Brian Eno Urges Public Help to Get Palestinian Solidarity Lullaby to UK Christmas No 1.
A charity drive is aiming to propel a traditional song from Palestine to the Christmas number one spot. The effort aims to deliver assistance to Gaza's residents while also highlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.
A Chance for Solidarity and an "Unlikely Coup"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a opportunity to stand with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He remarked the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“It would be fantastic if that came to pass, yes,” he stated. “I won't be completely disheartened if it doesn't manage to, festive releases are a unique phenomenon.”
Resilient Spirit of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the adaptation of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's defiant core message.
“The song holds a very special place for many individuals,” Barghouti explained. “The message is that I would choose to perish with honor than spend my life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we desire to exist a dignified life that we merit as a people.”
Track's Background and Contributing Musicians
The single was laid down following a large-scale benefit event held in the autumn. First conceived to be done as a live recording, the rendition was shelved during the concert due to time constraints.
The diverse array of performers contributing to Lullaby features a group of prominent voices from the music world. All were part of the September show, which managed to collect a significant sum for charitable causes.
Final Touches and Availability
Lullaby was produced by a group of producers and composers. The single blends a mix of the traditional Arabic lyrics with freshly written English words.
The team running the campaign have emphasized that their goal is to generate maximum funds for a specific fund. These resources will be channeled to Palestinian causes through an established charity.
“We haven't set a rigid aim,” a spokesperson explained. “We aim for whatever we can get. Of course, the more the merrier. All proceeds are directed out to those in need in Gaza.”
The reality in the territory was characterized as its profound destruction, with a vast majority of infrastructure reportedly levelled or seriously harmed.
“Against that backdrop, a few million won't make a massive dent. But I think what truly matters is primarily raising awareness for this issue and demonstrating there’s another side to the story.”
The single 'Lullaby' is scheduled for release this Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the benefit event will be made available for streaming on a major video platform from later in the month.
