Arne Slot Asserts He Is Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot admitted that it was expected for questions to be raised about his position after a further heavy loss against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their ninth defeat in twelve games, marking the team's worst run since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie title holders on a punishing night at their home ground.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I have got plenty of backing from above,” the coach commented.

“It's important to change things and earn three points obviously but if you are in a managerial role and struggling then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I accept my role. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Talks with The Board

Upon being questioned to provide details on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they don't phone me all the time each day to say they back me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal exchanges I perceive the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them since this match so far so we'll see.”

Persistent Issues and Player Response

The manager lamented familiar shortcomings from his team in their Champions League defeat, namely poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more forthright in his view of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones stated.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He continued, “It's tough because I play for the team I support. I support them, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side going through a period such as this with outcomes like these.”

Jones finished, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And as long as it is removed, we'll continue to compete.”

“Our aim is to get this team back to where it needs to be, prove once more what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the greatest side in the planet.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
